I had the dealer order the retro speedometer-tachometer for my 2005 Softail Deluxe. I was told in here that it is a very simple R&R and all is well.
My dealer is telling me that this might not be so? They are trying to tell me that there might be some extra wire that they have to hook up and run and that it is not as simple as unhooking and then hooking up the wiring harness.
I do not want to get billed for 1.5 hrs of labour if it is so simple that a monkey (or even I) can do it?
So any input that would clear this up or help would be very much appreciated.
That damn piece was expensive, roughly $675.00 dollars!!!!
I know if you have flush mount cap and fuel gauge you need to run a wire up the front of the tank to actuate the low fuel light in the fuel gauge but other than that I think they are lost. Changing out the Speedo is very simple. I just did it on my Nightrain. But I added the flush mount and that was kind of a pain. But if you are just changing from a speedo to a speedo-tach very simple. I think they are lost.
Thanks guys got it done...luv it!!! It was a snap to do....literally. I got the nostalgic one and it is fantastic!! I have not seen it at night yet so have no idea how it lights up but so far so good!!
