Default Is the relocation bracket necessary?....

I just got a 2009 Heritage Classic and my husband and I were putting on the rear saddlebag guards. The literature says that it has to have the relocation brackets, which we got, but we found that the original bracket not only fits, but looks better and appears to be a better part (since it has the rubber bushing that would absorb vibration). Does the relocation bracket HAVE to be used and if so, why? Thanks y'all.

thanks flipper, i saw your message somewhere when i logged on. don't really know my way around the site yet. was it pretty self explanatory once you got into it? i was thinking i could pick them up from the dealer and install them myself if it wasn't too much hassle.

When I put the bag guards on my '08 Heritage, I didn't need the relocation brackets. When I added passenger floorboards, I had to use the relocation brackets.

Same here, the floorboards had to have them, but I didn't do the bag guards.

Vell if they fit, bolt up right, and not in a bind, I'd go with it,

Take-em back or keep them if going to install the FB's, U prob will need them then..
