there is a big difference between the suicide shifters of the past and new ones today. i used to think they would be dangerous but they really arn't that bad, it is a little nutty with apes but that just makes it more fun
you will deffinetly learn to love it.
anyone who says don't get one hasn't riddin one or hasn't riddin one sinse the ol'days
I cant stop riding mine now that it has the Jock' on it.
Its like owning a new bike. Its badass mastering a new skill. Our bikes are so oiltanker stable you would be shocked at what you can do with one hand on the bars.
I'm dern near at the point of coming to almost a dead stop with one hand on the shifter and one on the bars.
I can hammer through the gears at almost full poop and if my bike was a stocker or stage 1 bike instead of a cammed, headworked , high compression build I would be able to hold it wide open and shift with glee.
Mine is still a little too spicy to do WFO runs through the first 4 gears with one hand....Lil' sketchy.
I dunno how it can even be considered suicide anymore. That term came from the old foot clutch that would lock into place at a stop sign or light and then the rider would release it and take off.
The term "Suicide" came from those old clutches releasing without warning hence sending the rider into traffic and causing him great distress and or life ending injury.
Thats a thing of the past. Start your bike. Put it in first gear. sitting at idle with the clutch pulled let it snap fully out under its own power. You aint going nowhere. Your twin cam Harley will go clack and die where it sits.
Riding my Jockey shifted Train is just a gas.....I'm already fully acclimated after 2 days. On occasion my left hand opens like a zombie hand reaching for the clutch without me prompting it.....Once I shifting down instead of up.
Short of that?
Go Jockey and you will get back that excited feeling you had when you first learned to ride!!
I got some stuff to sell, and hopefully I'll make enough to get this setup. Who wants to buy some Vance and hines big shot staggered in excellent condition? Let me know. I also have a couple of other items. Will be posting up later tonight.
