Default springer risers is this normal

I may have just have never noticed but my risers are not sitting completely flush with the top of the triple tree ( not sure its called that on a springer). It appears there is about an 1/8 of an inch between the triple tree and the bottom of the risers. It also appears to be the same on the bottom of the triple tree and the top of the forks. I am not sure how the risers mount and if they can back off or not. there does not appear to be any wobble or anything.

my XB risers (probably the same as yours) have a taper in the middle of the riser shaft and then the hex area where you tighten them into the trees... when I had them on my bike you could see the hex and a bit of the taper under the painted part of the riser....
sorry for the crappy picture...
and IMO the risers can not loosen up while installed...

any of this make you feel better?

Just changed my bars out and noticed the same thing. So I had to take it apart to check it out. That's the way there made so the bars can more a little on the rubber bushings. That's all there is to it.

top section is normal where the risers meet the top clamp, can't speak to the bottom section your talking about. Risers have a little flex built into them (hence the room), poly bushings will take most, if not all the flex out of the risers.

thanks for the info everybody. it makes me feel much better. I was hoping it had been like that and I just had not noticed it. I love this website, you guys have helped me out more than a few times. Itmakes sense they need a little extra cushion. Thanks again.
