bensonjv....
that looks like a bunch of stuff.....
all I did was thread the adapter into the trees and then installed the risers onto them....
I installed a washer underneath one of the risers so it would line up...but that's it....
I get no movement in the bars at all... and very little vibes....
That's probably all he'll need as well - the few parts you describe. I just wanted to show the exploded parts view of both the stock setup and the Gooden Tite kit.
My guess is for the risers he bought he'll just need to bolt up the following from top of the trees to the bars...
Conversion studs --> a washer or rigid mount adapter --> new riser --> washer --> locknut --> bars --> riser cap.
thx for the info guys.
when i tried to take the stock riser apart, i never could get the bolt outta it. the nut thats on the bottom sits so close to the edge of the risers, i didnt have any socket that i could get on it.
may have to go with that solid mount riser kit. was planning on just using some rubber washers but really had no idea how that would affect handling and vibes.
still been using the 16' bars with the stock risers and i get a lil vibe with that setup. still wondering though if i would just come out easier by buying a set of 14" bars.
that would put them down 2" inches and put them in more of my comfort zone. just may have trouble gettting my grip off as i had to use a rubber mallet to get the left one on with the 16".
when i bought the ape kit from hill custom cycles off ebay he only had them in 12 or 16 as i originally wanted 14".
I bought the exact same risers. I drilled the hole in the risers out to 5/8" and used allen bolts 5/8 x18 2" long to secure the risers to the springer. Mounted my 16" apes and all is good.
Cheesecake,
Hope I don't sound dumb. So, I can just use the debrix adapter on your link and go to "standard" non-springer risers? If I also wanted to go to poly bushings, does gooden tights $52 kit have the adapter also or is it for springer risers? hope that makes sense
if you get the V-Twin part you will be able to install any HD riser set that does not have a one piece upper cap...
this picture shows the adapter and washer that I used to make everything line up and be tight.... I'm going to replace the metal washers with a rubber one... when I find the time....
the risers are RSD 3".... non-Springer riser....

+1 on these......non springer riser on a springer......they are the bollocks
I'm also looking for these adapters, and found that everyone is out of them. I called V-Twin about a week ago and they told me there were a couple hundred on order, and they should be in in a couple of weeks.
