Only "trick" I can think of is when your trying to replace the exhaust gaskets. See if your tool box has a small thin bladed screwdriver (I used a sharp metal scribe) you can use to pop or dig the old one out with.
if they have both get the square one, it works better with aftermarket pipes.
This is exactly the kind of thing I'm lookin for
Not stuff that you find in the manual.
It can help if you take digital pics as you remove parts. Especially if you are doing several projects at the same time. Also put your bike over an old piece of carpet or a blanket, that way if you drop something, it won't bounce somewhere where you can't find it.
Have LOTS of light. The more the better. I used dental picks to remove my old exhaust gaskets. The dental tools are also perfect for removing the wires from the molex connectors if you are changing your handle bars.

I put my BSS on myself as well... no real issues..just take your time... I think the others addressed anything that might come up...I had to relocate my passenger peg to the other bolt in the frame...not sure on the FB if you will have the same... I used the SE exhaust port gaskets on mine instead of stock part#..... that's about it... good luck!
