I want to repaint both fenders and gas tank, and have no idea what it can cost to do this. I am not looking for nothing crazy, just regular black denim..
Price is dictated by the painter, and the paint chosen. I have seen the tins priced anywhere from 1300 up to 4000. Talk to the painters in your area, look at thier work, and then decide.
I talked to 8 painters before having the wifes tins done..but I got what She wanted, and a price I liked..Hers were painted and airbrushed and cost me 2500.00 Would have been more but the painter had just opened her own bussiness after years working for someone else. She kept the price lower to get the bussiness, figuring to get known in the area, and then slowly bring the price up to be in line with others in the area.
Best of luck...and choose carefully.. YOU have to live with the results..
I got a smoking deal on mine. I local guy got layed off from a nascar team and painted mine for 300 bucks. I bought all the paint from harley for 350 bucks so for 650 i know have a perfect black pearl set of tank and fenders.
Had mine done recently, all tins plus the hard bags, in DuPont Hot Rod Black for $625 from a local painter who specializes in old hot rods and bikes. He had 100's of pics/references and even removed/replaced the tins so I would not have too - just check around and don't settle until you've talked to a number of painters. I went through a number before I settled on this guy.
Also, he did my wifes sporty two weeks after mine for $500 in balck pearl with pink pearl racing stripes and she loves it. I posted it in the sportster forum - https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sport...y-painted.html
WOW !! those prices seem a bit high. How much can the paint alone be ?
That's a question you might not like the answer to.
Most paints are not very cheap, then there are some that are unbelievably expensive.
Like some of the chameleon colors can cost more than $5000 a gallon.
A good paint job in denim black will run you anywhere from $300 to $600. Add in pinstripes and the cost (depending on the painter) can go up to about $1000 to $1500
