went to gas up today and my flush mounted gas cap self destructed in about three parts. cap spring gasket cant seem to get it all back together . can you buy just the cap or do you have to buy the whole kit. oh buy the way the leds are burning out too thing is only 3 months old think i will stick to the stock one next time around.
Your not the first guy to have that problem. Call the dealer, if that's where you got it, otherwise call whoever you got it from and see if they will get you a new one.
They really are junk !! had some hot weather here for a change , pulled up at the petrol station and couldnt get the petrol cap to twist out, i think my hands were a bit sweaty or the damn thing expanded a bit..
you have to be carefull how you tighten them. too tight and they will break like that. as for the LEDS they say the early ones did burn out, yes you can just replace the fuel filler cap
Your LED's did not burn out. the ultra fine wiring was not up to the vibration of your bike, and they broke connection.
As for the cap. You CAN put it back together. kine everything up and snap it down tight. it may come apart again, it may not, but its an easy fix at anytime.
Thye WILL snap together, it will be in the compressed position, and will still work fine.
These things were junk when they first came out, and apperently still are. Harley has been aware of the problems, and still keeps on selling themithout redesigning them. Thats true customer care...(GREED)
