Could be a bad relay or a bad starter solenoid.....

This is why the Electrical Diag. manual is a lifesaver....

I have the HD manual for this bike but is there a better repair manual especially for DIY who is all thumbs and not much experience?

the manual you talked about is an electrical diagnostics manual does it tell you also how to fix the problem once you determine what is going on?

thanks for you help.

It is the Electrical/Electronic Bible for your bike......

No one EVER thinks about getting it... Gotta have that Svc Manual though.....

It has Flow charts, DTC Breakdown charts, step - by - step, kinda like when you talk to a child....

BARNEY STYLE......

It will walk you through the diagnostics, and help you to determine the course of repair...

But, understand this.... alot of the diagnostics requires some pretty specialized tools, like breakout boxes (So you dont screw up your wiring harness)....

You are either going to have to adapt, or take it to a Tech that can do it...
