i got a 08 softail custom i like but iv found a 07 fatboy i really like ever wandered if anybody else have run into this dont know what to do lol any advice
Would it be more expensive to trade for it or just buy parts and turn your custom into a Fat boy or at least take the parts you like from the fatboy? Ya must of liked something about the custom.
Is the term trading down being reffered to due an outstanding balance still due on the 08'? or is it due to going down a year?
The sad part is that if the 07' Fattie is at a dealership? Trust me that they will not treat you as if you are trading "Down" Lol!
Example....Lets say you do in fact owe money on the 08'. Lets say you owe 15 grand? Now lets assume the dealer has the 07' Fatty priced at...14,500?
You roll in on yours and they may offer you 12,500 on trade against the 14.5K Fatty.
You argue and they bump yours to 13K against the 14.5K Fatty.
What they want is a clear title to your bike and $1500 trade difference.
So assuming you owe 15 Grand and they want $1500 trade difference plus yer' bike you will need yours paid off. So add $1500 plus tax plus whatever weird setup or DOC feee they may have plus whatever your payoff is.
Using 15 grand as your payoff the 07' Fatty would be in the $16500 range.
So you may think you are trading down but bet that if you go to a dealership with your 08' Custom looking at an 07' fatty they for damned sure aint gonna think you are trading down.
Why? Profit and paying overhead, paying the light bill, paying the sales team, paying insurance etc..etc...etc.
So unless their 07' fat Boy is a straight up turdmobile or yours is dipped in pure gold?? They will not be offering you back any extra cash for trading. They will want money plus your bike from.....You!
Also:
Gawd forbid you owe 19-20 grand on yours and looking at that 14.5K Fatty thinking you are gonna save some coin....Please let that not be the case!!
