Default tarnished parts

hey all
what is the best stuff for taking tarnish of alloys and chrome. there are a couple of bits on my bike that need attention and the auto glym stuff i got for it is crap.
i have a good couple of swirl marks on my tank also any advice on this. if i cant get it the way i want it i may end up getting it re-coated close season but i want to see if anything else works first.
any advice is welcome guys

Harley make a swirl remover that I use and its really good. might try to see what they have for they polish also.
Lots of guys shy away from HD products, but I have found them to work as stated.

Scratch x for the swirls in the paint. Made MacGuire's. Try S100 polishing soap on the wheels.

I got some Master Formula metal polish at a hot rod show recently. Puts nearly a chrome finish on my polished aluminum rear wheel. They also have a sealer that helps you keep the finihs nice between rides. Works on chrome as well.

thanks guys for the info so far.
i have meguiars swirl remover but i dont think its that good.
i think the uk stuff is inferior to your stuff one of the sales men told me with the massive drop in the pound and dollar they had to cut costs so instead of putting up the price they made a lesser product and kept the price the same.
its the tarnished metal that causes most concearn i want it to shine.
