I have the not so drop in progressive kit. They a;so have an actual drop in kit that easier to install.

Word on the streets is that the hot setup is the race tech kit with the gold emulator valves.

Progressive kit = $90.00 or so
Race Tech = $230.00 or so.

I'm gonna put just the set of Race Tech valves in my forks as they are only $125.00

If I had to do it all over again I may very well just go for the best stuff from the get go. We have a fellow member here. Back Again. I think he is running the race tech valves. Maybe he will chime in.

I like the forks better lowered. If the valving from race tech is as good as I hear it is then I will be in heaven.

I Jockey shift so lots of time with one hand on the bars dodging potholes. I need the best stuff I can get in that fork....

Gots to keep the shiny side......Up?

Spend the extra money and buy the Race Tech.
I dropped my bike 1" last year using the MoCo springs. It performed as well as stock. This year, I added air ride and wanted to drop the front down to 2". My dealer suggested the Race Tech because they just finished an install and they couldn't believe the ride.
You choose the springs according to your weight, and the Gold Emulators act as a damper within the springs. No more jolts from man hole covers and washboard roads. It puts the stock ride to shame, and they do not dive under hard braking.

You guys can do what you want, but I can't praise the ride enough.
I'll put my Softail with the Shotgun air ride/Race Tech springs up against anything out there.

Yup....Race Tech.

I'm thinking just the gold damper stuffed in with my current progressive lowering springs as they feel pretty close for my weight....

Your bike is looking "Fierce-some" as usual George

This is an interesting discussion....I haven't seen too much info on the race tech stuff yet. I used the Progressive kit on my front end. I don't think it was the "drop in" kit. Only took it down 1.25". Could've gone down 2".

I'm doing the exact same thing on my bike. I have a set of chrome sliders I need put on and some progressive 2" drop ins I'm going to install. I'm waiting to buy my front wheel though before I start the whole process. If you do a froum search for progressive drop ins, there's an old thread that's pretty that describes the install procedure on a NT. As you've heard, it's not so drop-in kit is a bit more of a pain on our NTs.

regards,

Dale

Don't mean to hi-jack 103's thread.....Chaz have you done any research on the RT Gold valves being installed with progressive springs?

I too have the progressive kit on my bike, dropped two inches. I do know that the springs we are running are wound different than the stock. They do rebound faster than the stockers.

Thanks Chaz for your input on these threads!

Also, check out "Intiminators" made by another company. They are similar to the race tech valves but supposedly better. A lot of the Dyna guys have put them in and swear by them. Do a search.
