I have to disagree with you 100%. My crossbones rode just as good if not better than any of my other harleys. Old design or not, they ride great.

Funky Nova actually rode a springer where I believe Gunmetal only thinks he knows what he is talking about. A springer rides pretty freakin good if you actually ride one. No they are not for stunt riding, stoppies, etc., but they handle as well as any glide and just like a Harley should.

Gee, owning 1 springer in the past and having a custom chopper with a springer front end, I think I would qualify. And considering I ride HARD up on roads potmarked with frost heaves, cracks, splits, potholes etc. I think I know where Im coming from. Springers have poor rebound damping, its an inherant trait people with REAL knowledge on springers know about. A small tiny shock a fraction of the size of just one softail rear shock that is leveraged off to on average a 1:2 ratio on their respective fork uprights to an adjoining spring is just not going to handle that great. Telling me a Springer handles great in comparison to say a set of well setup(meaning proper spring rate, oil weight, and valve damping)traditional FX forks or Marucchi cartridge shocks is just plain silly.

Next thing you know people are gonna say our old fashioned "retro" softails outright handle better than a Sporty or a Buell, LOL!
Again, they are just fine for relaxed riding conditions, relatively smooth roads etc. Just dont try and mistake them for a good tuned cartridge shock.

Made the switch to a leaf spring front end earlier this year and have put 2500 miles on it in the last 2 months. I was skeptical , however I am convinced it rides better than the oe suspension of my 07 Street Bob..

Recently (April) traded my "06" Street Bob in for my "06" FXTSI. Very solid in curves at speed. No front end flex, as there was with the streetbob. Lots of people seemed to be buying superbraces to correct the problem.

First time owning a Softail, rear end seems more stable in curves as well without the standard shocks. Feels really solid overall to me. Just my observations.

Does get alot of attention, no question about it.
