I put the road6customs 16 in apes on my cross bones. After I have ridden it awhile, I love the feel but wish they were a little taller. I think its the way the grips angle down that makes it feel shorter. Ive got enough wire and cables to go up about 2 more inches. Should I just order another set of bars, or can I get some 6" risers. I love the look of the dogbone style, but will tall risers be ok with apes? thanks,
Just order some taller bars. Get what you really want. Sometimes the only way to know what you really want is to buy the wrong thing. Been there, done that.

I did the same thing. I put BR Custom Cycles apes on my Night Train. I had never ridden with ape hangers before, so I didn't know how tall I really wanted. I got them 16", but that's to the top. My hands were probably 14". I put them on 1 3/34" risers. They were ALOT more comfortable than the drag bars, but after a while my lower neck and shoulders would hurt. So I re-routed the cables and put the stock (6" or 6 1/2") Night Train risers back on to see if that would help. It's way more comfortably now. I can ride all day and not hurt at all. No problems except it don't look near as good with the tall risers. So I had my leather jacket rolled up and strapped to the risers. That kinda hid the risers and looked alot better. But since it's summer now, I strapped a tool bag in place of the jacket. Don't look as goos as with the jacket but still helps hide the risers. I'm wanting to get a set of 4 1/2" risers and try them. I paid almost $300.00 for my raw bars alone. So I'm not about to just order another taller set like them.
