Does anyone have experience with 'tank lifts'? I have an 04 Fat Boy (carbur). I am considering an 2" tank lift (lifts front of tank) from 'ChopperStyle' (see J&P Parts). I'm not going for looks but for better access to the rocker covers. Besides the 2" lift doesn't change the look dramatically, and I don't want to change the character of the FB.
I have heard from others that have done it that the fuel tank 'reserve' capacity is reduced considerably (40 mi to ~20 mi). Does anyone know for certain? I am changing my handlebars and front signal location because I know the signals won't clear the lifted tank. Are there any other issues/consequences to consider?
I have one on my '99 Night Train, but I had to make the components myself as Chopper Style didn't make one for the 'older type' of twin tanks. I have found only a very minimal reduction (~20 miles) in the gas getting to the front crossover tube....
