rear tail light not working

rear tail light not working

I have this same thread posted under General Tech. My rear tail light just went out. Checked all of my connections and fuse, and everything seems ok. Not sure where to go from here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

have you tried a test light to see if you have power at the sockets?

No, not yet. I figure I'll head over to the dealership this afternoon and buy a new bulb and go from there

Turns out the the battery cable was loose, and there was a short in the wire connected directly to the bulb. But now when I press the brake pedal, the light will not brighten.

I had problems with my tail light / breaklight due to messing around with my right hand control. I had taken it apart and reinstalled it only to break a small plastic piece in the front break lever. When you take the controll apart you need to put a piece of cardboard in between the lever and housing until its reassembled. This swithch will cause the tail light to not work. This may not have anything to do with your problem but it reminded me of one of the many ooops I have done.
