You may have seen the new "sundowner" seat that is now offered for the Deluxe. Its a two up seat but much more comfortable and similar to the origional Hertiage seat. Its in the Harley Web Site. $325 at Harley.
Other softail seats will fit but in most cases you must remove the luggage rack. Mustang aftermarket seats will fit but they will tell you to remove the rack. Corbon makes a solo seat that will work but open your piggy bank for that one.

Hey Bluerose, I'm thinking about having my shave down a bit as well to sit me further back. I"m 5'11 and sometimes I feel like I can rest my chin on my knees...lol. Highway bars help, but not around town. Did you have yours custom shaved?
Candace
Yes I did...Its much much much ...did I say much? better then it was.....It was worth it.
I might go see if they can fix a couple of areas I've found uncomfortable now that I have riden it for a while.
I just saw a few nice seats and was wondering if anyone had tried a different one.
I just got the seat rail off of a Springer. It's identical to the stock Deluxe, but has another rail on top of that, which allows you to attach a back rest. I sent my stock Deluxe seat off to Americana Seats in NJ to have them put in a gel pad, covered with memory foam. I then attached a tall backrest pad to the new Springer rail. Looks great, and is nice having the backrest. Only problem is they don't make the Springer rails anymore so you'll have to find one through other means - I got mine for $120 on eBay.
Can you update us on the results from Americana Seats. I am thinking about sending my seat there. I'ld love to be able to sit back a few inches and improve the tailbone area.
