I just bought an 09 Fatboy so I have not had to change the oil yet. My brother-in-law has an 01 Springer and asked me to post this question. When he changes his oil, he said he can't get all the old oil out. Any thoughts on this?
You can do what is called a scavenge oil change. They are usually expensive but I found this forum thread on another site that is much cheaper. Here is a link to the thread and here is a link to the product. I haven't tried myself yet so I can't offer any opinions about it.
Do not need any special tool or system... with the filter off and plug still out of pan, bump the starter a few times... amazing the oil that come out.
I do mine and my friends the same way the scavenger does, except i use a second (cheap) filter insted of the puck thing, and use a 12" section of aquarium tubing from home depot which i think i paid a dollar for. then just follow the Scavenger video off there website and Voila your done. don't forget to purchase an extra quart of oil and get a extra "cheap" filter and some aquarium tubeing, and a six pack of your favorite brew.

+1. If you're really **** about it, pour in some fresh oil and do this until the new oil starts to run out.
I also use the Scavenger system and it works flawlessly! Your guaranteed to get ALL the oil out of your motor when doing an oil change, and not just dropping what comes out of your tank!
