I hate windshields but may need to get one for my 06 Deluxe.
If the glasses that you tear up with have the flat Grey foam with the indented lines, that's why you tear up. The ones with the thick soft foam does the trick for me.

I wear cheap goggle/glasses made by bobster that last about 5 months then the foam pieces break apart ...but while they last there great! I've had oakleys, wiley-x's (still got a few in the box) issued but my grape and the glasses fit like eye contacts.

If you wear glasses to correct your vision you basically have two options without faceshield. Find some riding glasses with some kind of foam or rubber around the back side of the lenses that seals off the wind that you can also get in prescription. That's the pricy option, but cooler looking. The cheaper option is to get one of the sets of goggles that fit over glasses. That's what I have at the moment. They look kind of like ski goggles. I found them at the dealer, although they're not Harley brand. They do keep the wind out of my eyes better than the Wiley X riding glasses I used to wear with contacts.

I wear one of those HD glasses with the foam thing around them :P
They are great (except for the marks the foam things leave on my face, but not as bad as goggles!)
But the one mentioned above, which can take prescription lenses, sounds like an even better idea.

used some snowboarding goggles during the colder riding months this year, and they were probably the best option i've used. i ordered a cheap pair of bobsters of a site called bikerbandit.com ($10), and they get the job done as well.

I would get some prescription protective wrap-around glasses for riding. I use mine even out on the gun range. Regular glasses could be iffy. If a truck kicks up a rock, bug swarms, or some debris gets kicked up at you there is a chance that it could get in your eyes around regular glasses and cause you to wreck. I had a bug fly into my eyes when I was on a bicycle at night and it caused my eye to water and spasm so bad that I had to pull over into the grass and drop the bike. If I had been out on the interstate on a motorcycle the same thing could have been fatal. I'm a firm believer in keeping your eyes safe.

Out on the roads there are all kinds of things that can get kicked up and hit you, fly into you, and even be thrown at you. Hope this helps.

I wear Wiley-X and have the tactical goggles that were designed for a SWAT helmet. I had them made with clear lenses for night opps.
