I was thinking about the 2 into 1 Pro Pipe which was just released in black for Softails but decided after hearing one on my riding partner's bike that it's tone was too "hollow". The Big Shots have a power chamber to improve performance, they have a sound that isn't too loud, not too soft or hollow and they are BLACK!
I had the Short Shots on my Nightster. They were a bit loud for city riding but fine for country roads. I think the Big Shots (being a little longer) will be toned down just a little and be perfect for me.
The pipes themselves are actually chrome. The heat shields are black ceramic so the chrome you see at the end is the actual pipe. I haven't had much experience with a lot of pipe brands / mfgers but the quality of the V & H products I've had are top shelf. My mechanic has many years of experience and he swears by V&H because of their quality, their performance and the fact that if he has a problem they will stand behind it.
Yeah, I have heard the same. From this forum and dealers about the quality and all the ones I have heard going past my office window everyday sound great. I think the with longer pipe, you'll get deeper sound. The shorter the pipe, the more crackly the sound. IMO.
I am also looking at different pipes. I love the look of the D&D Fat 2-1. I think it would look great on my bike. I have the Rush 2.0 right now and they sounds great, but I like the looks of the 2-1 for some reason.
