2009 Softail Hard start

I am a new Harley owner, I always owned riceburners. I have noticed lately ever since I had my 1000 service and changed to synthetics, that when starting the Bike up when still fairly hot, after short stops, gas, beer, whatever. That when I press the starter button that sometimes the engine appears to freeze and there has been one occassion when there seemed to be a back fire. Other than that the Bike runs great. Is this normal???

I have a 2008 and it kinda seems like in it takes a little longer to start when hot. Espeically after I installed my power commander. I guess because the power commander interrupts the signal from the computer.

I think I have a similar symptom. When mine is hot, only turned off for a few minutes, sometimes it will turn over once, then stop, then continue and start right up during the starting process. It has never not started for me. I compare it to the case when trying to start a car on a close to dead battery. I could see the case of a defective PC possibly causing the bike to not start, but not preventing it from turning over which I believe you are describing here. It has done it intermittently for several months now. I am pretty confident it is not the battery and the connections are good. I also keep it on a battery tender when not in use. I might ask the dealer about it, but it always starts up with no issues.

I had a similar problem for the first couple weeks I owned my 09 Ultra. If it was hot the motor would turn over slower and i don't think it had enough momentum to start. It never stopped turning over though. I would have to wait a few minutes then she would start right up. I was hoping it just needed to break in a little and everything would loosen up a bit and it did. The problem went away on its own after several hundred miles.
