It's all a taste thing.. I was looking for a new bike last year when I 1st saw the Rocker.. Knew it was what I wanted.. Fat tire (without being too obnoxious), raked more than other ST's.. I drove the FXCW and the C.. Didn't like the C seat or the look it created.. Also didn't want all the chrome so I went with the straight Rocker.. I was 42 at the time and I'm still lovin it.. IMO the stock "C" sux but there are nice options out there to rectify that.. All the talk about the back tire being too wide and not handling is BS.. However they engineered it, it works and you can ride it without it trying to stand up in corners.. There does seem to be a recurring theme that it eats tires (i got 4500 on the rear and 7500 on the front when I changed them) and I'm on my 2nd set now..
If you plan to do major changes I think there might be some cheaper starting platforms but if you like the look as is then you will like the bike..
You get the bike you want. If you like the looks and feel of the Rocker, and it is what you want, then get the bike. You are the one that has to be happy with this decision. BTW, I think the Rocker is a great looking bike, mods or no mods.
I don't think you'll find any owners unhappy about their purchase.
I've put about 5,000 miles on my 08, and I love it.
that's not many miles for an 08, that's about a minimum per year for most.
I test rode an 08...I didn't care for it that much. It was okay handling but the look isn't for me. I don't want to offend...but I think the rear end looks like an afterthought almost...doesn't flow with the rest of the bike. It does look alot better without that awful stock seat but I don't see me ever buying one. My next move will be back to the touring bike line again.
There sure is a lot of them for sale on eBay, and a lot that do not sell, due to "Reserve Not Met". Seems to indicate that some Rocker C riders fall out of love with them fairly quickly.

I would say that's high miles for a 'bar hopper' bike...I bought my current bike in November of 06 (2007 model) and had over 7k on it by March....and I really dont like riding in the cold weather....going on 32k as I type....next bike will likely be a Street Glide....
