Thanks for all of the advice. I want to take the tank off completely to allow room to remove the tunnel guard (black plastic piece) as stated by m i k e or someone in an earlier thread.

I have a decent idea for fuel guessing after this last trip....I dont trust that gas light when it goes on that much nor the "range" guesser....had it on 20 miles and had about 10 miles to go (freaked out and put some gas in it...trying to leave it empty for the tank lift).

Question for m i k e - did you have any probs with any electrical stuff or speedo?

Thanks all

Thanks. Im sure I will figure the crossover and plastic thing once I get started....not for another 2 weeks, I gotta go to Alabama for work stuff. I will definitely post up some pics once I finish my fender. Found a guy out at Deals Gap that will pinstripe and paint my rear fender for $100!! he has a booth out front and looks like he has been there for awhile...if anyone reading this has any experiences with him please pass it on.

Its possible you'll need to extend some wiring for a 3" lift. Although I didn't extend wiring for my 3" lift, I did reroute the last couple inches of the harness below the tank to gain the added length needed. That's a much less labor intensive option that extending wiring.

Adding to Mike's comments about improved looks, it is also reported to improve airflow around the heads. Always a good thing on an air cooled bike, no matter how small the improvement may be.

I thought I had read in some earlier post respective to a Rocker tank lift, that you could install the 2" lift kit and keep the stock handlebars AND the turn signals. That just don't seem possible.

When I look at the handlebar/turn signal clearance to the top of the tank in the stock configuration, it's like maybe 1/2"

Is that BS?

I think so.... I did a 2" lift but moved the turn signals to the forks. Those signal lights would hit the tank for sure.

I had my turn signals moved to the forks also for my 2" lift. I like the look of the bike much better with them down there also.
