SEST (Screaming eagle super tuner) is nice, but is expensive as well. My Dyno guy suggested it and I laughed as the money was not there for it. Apparently you can plug your computer into it and it will give any and all error codes as well. I run a pcIII as my bike is a bit older. I got if off ebay for a steal.
was from these guys and got me the air kit cheaper too than I could fine. There are a few other companies that people have used and have had great experiences.
i went with thundermax and very pleased. it you can find a deal on a used one then the price is not so bad. I had pciii before and it worked great after paying for a dyno tune
I want the set up that plugs my bike into my laptop like harleygoodies was talking about ... would be a blessing to know what is going on in my bikes brain ...
I had an 08 with screaming eagle slip ons, stock intake, and stock map. 6th gear was pretty much useless at anything less than 60mph. My 09 came with a vance and hines fuel pak, screaming eagle intake, and BR's on it. It runs great and pulls strong in 6th gear 2up from 50mph and up. I am really happy with it!
I have a set of Vance & Hines Short Shots on my Bones. Also have the SE intake upgrades. We used a SERT (Screaming Eagle Race Tuner) and it works good. I think it's a tad fat on the top, but no complaints, it's protecting me from myself.
Ive had a fuel pak on two of my other bikes and have had great results. This past week I installed a set of short shots stags on my buddies 08 fatty along with a HD A/C and a fuel pak as well. I havnt had a chance to ride it since he left late at night, but he says that it feels like a different bike altogether. Install was straight forward and if your not thinking of doing any major motor work.. Its a good choice.
I myself am debating wether to upgrade my 96 to a 103 and not sure if I should get another fuel pak.
One thing I dont like about the newer models 07+ and the fuel controllers, There is no place to put them without it looking like a rig. My 05 SE used the ECU tray and V&H sells the fuel pak with the deeper tray so both the ecu and fuel pak fit nicely.
Im a little confused, so these things actually sit somewhere on the bike permanately? I was under the impression it was done through the computer and thats it. but Im seeing alot of people complaining bout them being bulky. Can you guys clarify?
if you get the system that remaps your computer from a laptop then from my understanding there are no big boxes to plug in and leave on the bike .... but if you go with a controller that has presets then you will have to leave it on your ride ... I have heard a lot of people complain about the fitment with the unit and there seat
