That shop is about 45 minutes from my house.

Absolute old school. Walk in the door and theres a buncha old iron head slammed sporties and rat rods in the place.

Rick LaBriola is absolutely an old school hardcore dude. He dosent fvck around. He flat out refused to accept a bribe to build my kit quicker and put me in front of the waiting list which is 6 weeks unless he has hired a new helper.

While I was nosing around in his shop looking at his projects I saw something that blew me away. The guy was building a mechanical device on an old ironhead sprty that looked like the firing mechanism for a 50 cal machine gun hanging off the side of the bike. I asked him what the hell it was?? He told me it was a quick shifter. It was a mechanism of levers and bearings that clutch and shifted the bike at the same time. It was beyond radical....Dunno what his plans are longterm with it but it was complex and expensive enough looking to the point where it probably wont ever see production or be offered up to the general public.

Leave Rick a voice mail if he dosent answer the phone. Or send him an e-mail. His stuff is uber quality. Perfectly welded and powdered to the point of looking OEM.

To the OP, I just wanted to contribute that I take my 9-year old son to school, his tae kwon do classes, etc., all the time on my jockey shifted bike, so you should be okay. On one ride I even taught him to kick the jockey lever forward with his left boot on upshifts when I pushed in the clutch; he told me it was a blast helping me drive.

A couple of weeks back I took my son's mom to a very large deserted parking lot on a Sunday. Keep in mind she had never ridden a m/c in her life...after her third attempt she pulled away cleanly with the foot clutch, made two large circuits around the parking lot with upshifting to 2nd and back to 1st, then came to a halt and found neutral. For a total first-timer I thought she did pretty good!

the jockey shift looks cool, i dont think youd have many people wanting toi ride your bike with one, but i figure if i were to get one id have to go all out, foot clutch, with mouse trap, and shifter down low behind left leg, really make it the way they use to be in the old days. i could never understand why someone would mount a shifter and clutch lever together and then put it right up in front of you for easy access, to me it looks half a##. they look cool but dangerous. guess thats why they call them suicide clutches.
