Jockey Shift With Lever
I know most people on here have the suicide clutch, or foot clutch, whichever you prefer to call it, but I want to go with a kit that has the clutch lever on the shifter.
I saw a guy riding through town a couple days ago with this setup, and it just looked bitchin' to me. I do not want to go to the suicide setup, since my wife and son ride with me quite often, and neither of them know how to be freaking still when coming to a stop or when we are stopped.
Anyone have any info on who makes this setup for my 2008 Train? Maybe a cheap way to fab one up?
I emailed LaBriola and still have not heard anything yet. I figured even if they don't sell it, maybe they can fab one up for me. Might be another route for them for the people that want this option.
I'm attaching the only decent pic I have been able to find, and yes, I have searched and searched and searched. Seems like there really aren't many options for this.
Thanks for any help or links you can provide................
here is a link to a guy that sells on eBay... looks like he'll do some custom stuff..
I have a foot clutch and hand shifter on mine (Labriola)
don't have any issues...
When I first started I would always shift into neutral when I came to a stop..
Now I rarely do ... something you get used to and becomes second nature..
I can understand your concerns with a passenger... but I think the set-up that your looking at will have its own issues...
Good luck with your project!

Say you are at a stoplight or stopsign.
The bike is in neutral....both hands are on the bars and Junior is squirming around on the back of the bike.
Light turns green.
You reach down leaving one hand on the bars whilst you pull the clutch in on the lever and accelerate away from the light form a dead stop with one hand?
I must be missing something because that is tricky. Tricky by yourself...Way trickier with a passenger.
Next scenario....You are rolling along doing 55 and at the last minute you realize you aint gonna make the light. You have to brake hard. Real hard. So during this hard braking is it safe to assume that you have removed one hand from the bars to pull in the clutch as to not stall the bike?
I think that hand clutch lever thing is supposed to be on a trike or something. It strikes me as being way harder to use than the tried and true foot clutch.
It took me 5 minutes to be riding happily in city traffic with my LaBriola foot clutch setup.
Now after being on my Jockey setup I'll never go back. Its comfy and natural. I dont ride my wife very opften but I put my badlander on and took my 15 Y/O daughter for a ride a few weeks ago and it was cake.
Honestly that hand clutch setup strikes me as craziness Bro!!
I can come to a dead stop with my hand on the shift lever but its unnerving. Try that on your bike with it in neutral. Coast to the stop sign and stop with one hand on the bars...It kinda sucks.
I can ride around corners with one hand and hold mine WFO with one hand as well but when it comes to emergency braking? I simply press in the clutch and get hard on the brakes and worry about downshifting after the danger has passed. I havent tryed emrgency braking manuvers with one hand yet...Sheese I dont want to!!
Wish ya' lived closer so I could letcha take my Train out for a bit. You would come back hooked.
Passengers and foot clutches? No problemo. How do ya' think all them guys in the 30's-40's and 50's rode those hotties around?
