He killed someone. It was stupid and selfish but with no malice.
If you think 6 years in jail is easy or feels like a short time your nuts. The judge sets your time and you do it. Thats our system. It's only by chance that this has not happend to 99% of us.
he should have gotten life. your taking some ones life. they don't get to come back from the dead in 6 years. By life I don't mean 25 years, I mean "eye for an eye". it would make all of us realize that their are consequences for your actions. you'd think 2 before you drive drunk/pull the trigger/rob some one....
Hell I think they should broadcast people being executed.
Again...Haven't heard anyone mention the fact that tests showed that Gerald Morelock was legally drunk himself at the time of the accident...neither he nor lane had any business being on the road that night, and if EITHER of them had showed better sense, we wouldn't be talking about this today...One drunk hits another drunk and one of the drunks died...so the law prosecutes the surviving drunk...it's a pitiful situation, but the the point IS, that just being the dead drunk doesn't qualify Morelock for sainthood...he was STILL just a drunk on the highway, same as Lane...
Never liked the guy...on one particular bike build-off program I saw, he was teamed with other well-known builders. Billy had the responsibility for a task which he screwed-up and then went running off like a little boy, stiffing the rest of the builders. He just always sounded like a half-wit most of the time. Did he really "build" any bikes worth talking about or just assemble them from parts and get a cool paint job??
As far as DUI goes...more than one standard drink (beer, wine, 1-oz mixed) per hour will get most people over .08 blood alcohol (the limit in my state). One or less per hour and your usually "OK"....whatever "OK" means...I guess we're all open to criticism with any degree of impairment when behind the wheel.
"on one particular bike build-off program I saw,"
I think that show was called BIG or build it big or something like that. They were building that HUGE bike..
