i make them give you new ones and keep the old ones.dads putting heilicoils in primay says there better cuz there steel threads then.i put a set of buffalo bars on a springer.had to thread the studs all the way down.then cut some threads off the top.made some risor covers to put over the studs.then the risors screwed down on top of those.
part number for crossbones springer riser studs is vt37-0864.
google it you should find it no probs. with these you can fit any riser.....im running 3" rsd risers and rsd vintage bars as i said before they are rock solid.

Ur bike is badass! I want to go with taller apes and I really dont think these risers are going to cut it. I am going to get them drilled and tapped for now, then look for some new ones. Anybody sell those riser studs in the US?

I remember reading about this. I want to do this to my risers.
out of all my bikes that has only happened to one riser and that is because I over-tightened it.....let them replace it and I bet it doesn't happen again.
I got the risers off and I am going to find somebody to put the inserts in tomorrow. I need to ride! I don't want to leave the bike sitting at the dealer while they wait for new risers to show up! I will add risers to my list of winter projects!
I agree with the overtightening but the bars slip. I think it is a poor design. The knurls on the bars don't bite into the smooth powdercoat.

This morning I made a trip to NAPA for a helicoil kit, spent an hour at a friend's garage, and I am back on the road! The helicoils went in pretty good and seem to be holding tight. I dimpled the $hit out of the riser clamps with a center punch and all seems to be good! Thanks for the help guys!
I was going to say that they have helicoils at most auto parts stores. I bought a metric set at pepboys for something and it came with the bit and tap.
I put new bars on, 12.5 mini apes on my Xbones, and on the way home from Sturgis (about 100 miles East on I-90) I hit a new section of pavement and my bars dropped about 3 inches. I'm looking for new risers also and I think I'm going to do exactly what cammy did. I've got the RSD intake and I'm more than happy with that so I'm sure their risers will work just as well.
