Hey Dude, I feel your pain! Go to NAPA and get a helicoil set. For about $35 bucks you can be back on the road and your risers will be stronger than stock. They will replace your riser under warranty but this will allow you to ride to the dealer. It is hard to move a bike with loose handlebars! I dont have the part # tho...
i went with the risers off a 97 bad boy (they are 4" tall n black) and they are rock solid. had 2" chrome risers on a 06 springer classic and had to change part 8 in your illustration cause the shoulder is taller.
Cammy,
I have an 08 Cross Bones and would like to ask you a question concerning the risers and the front wheel/springer width. I would like to stop my handle bars from wiggling and I want to change out the front wheel/tire for a 21" and I would like to change the apes for Drag bars.
I am currently in Afghanistan and unable to measure the width myself and as far as bars go I am not sure if i need to replace the risers if I keep the apes or if I go Drag. I do have the "wiggling" problem as well, I can brace myself and shove my bars an inch either direction and I do not think this is a good thing.
I would be very grateful for any help provided by the red blooded Americans that read this page and ride the very bikes made by them. My total goal is to add drag bars, a 21" front wheel and to lower the placement of the headlight. (I have read elsewhere, on how to get the movement bracket). If able (we are expecting our first child) I will replace the spoked wheels with Roland Sands rims or the PM rims I saw on here on a ad. I hope we can find a way to get all these things done soon, I will be home on leave in a few weeks and plan to ride the bike as soon as I get there, so I will try to have these parts ordered and waiting on me for installation and a nice ride.
