It's getting worse. It happens when riding at very slow speeds. I couldn't tell where it was comming from and then my wife got off the bike and said it was comming from the rear of the bike. It happens wether or not i use the brakes. It's getting worse everytime I take the bike out.
RE: Some very nasty squealing on my '06 night train.
Damn sounds like something in the drive train, or maybe the belt drive.
Have you tried coasting in neutral to see if the sound is still there?
Could be a bearing failure in the rear hub too. Sounds like it needs to
go to the dealer whatever it is.
RE: Some very nasty squealing on my '06 night train.
Ride the PI$$ out of it and use the front and rear brakes. Brakes, just like engines, need a break in. Harley breaks squeal like a pig. My '06 squealed for about 3,000 miles before it started to diminish. If you can apply the brake while riding slow and the squeel goes away, it's just brake squeel.
RE: Some very nasty squealing on my '06 night train.
i had this problem with my deuce. the rear pully was off a hair from when they put my chrome sprocket cover on. realigned rear wheel and noise gone. u could not tell by looking at it .dealer said if its off like a couple hundreds of an inch it will do this.
RE: Some very nasty squealing on my '06 night train.
Like Nutsy said it doesn't take much of a misalignment to squeal - the belt rubbing against the sprocket will do just that - you can probably isolate it by rubbing a bar of dove soap on the inside and outside of the belt, take a little ride and if the squeal is gone or reduced you probably have a little rub going on - if so, an alignment of the rear by an attentive technician should fix the problem. - Good Luck
RE: Some very nasty squealing on my '06 night train.
Took the bike to the dealer, unfortunately the bike was squealin the whole way there at slow speeds, and as soon as we got there and the tech rode it around, it stopped haha. He checked the bearings and checked the belt, did some lubing. Went for a ride, it started again.
I'll have to take it back and tell them to allign the wheel. Hopefully that will help.

I have also heard/read that H-D had a problem with remembering to lubricate the rear axle on some of the softails. Might want to have that checked.
Don't know if this would cause your squeel, I can vouch for the lack of lube on some rear axles. My 03 FXST's was pretty much welded into the bearing when I tried to remove it. Such a simple thing to slap some anti-sieze on there before installation.
