Default 93 Octane Vs 91 .... what do you use ?

I know that people on the left coast have 91 as a high grade fuel but the dealer say we should use 93 octane. IS that really needed?

My manual calls for 91 octane and that's what I put in it. Both of our 08s run fine on it.

My dealer and manual say 91. Never had anyone say 93 is recommended. But if they offered 93 here, I'd probably use it. What's a few extra pennies when you're only filling up 4-5 gallons.

I use 91 or higher. And if they have 93, I get 93.

The 2010 Catalog, on the back page, says "Recommended 91 octane or higher fuel (R=M)/2." for their models when its talking about MPG.

I make my own homebrew....99 Octane. I max up 5 gallons at a time until I devise a better system thats not so messy. I would like a little tank pump dealie but the HOA would probably fine the chit outta me!!

Fellow member here gave the inside tip. Toluene is 114 octane. Mixed 1.5 gallons to 3.5 gallons of 91 equals 99 octane.

10:25-1 Compression on a hot day equals big pinging with my build on the 91 octane and they dont have 93 here. Call me a Tard' but my bike dont ping anymore!!
