Can someone tell me when HD moved from a 3/4 inch to a 1 inch rear axle? I've called three HD dealers, one told me 2001, the other told me 2002 and the other said they have never chainged.
I am replacing my stock 01 Night Train rim with a 01 Deuce rim and need spacers and rear brake caliper. The bearing on the Deuce rim are 3/4 and are the same with my stock Night Traim rim.
As far as spacers are concerned ... will I run into a problem using a 1 inch diameter spacer on a 3/4 axle? A spacer is a spacer right OR am I asking for trouble.
Also, what about the rear brake caliper? If I go with a 1 inch diameter axle mount, will it cause prolems. The caliper itself mounts to the swingarm and really just rides on the axle itself. Again, is this a cause for concern?
RE: WTK: Rear Axle Diameters - When Did They Change?
If you have a 3/4" rear axle, you definitely will need to use 3/4" axle spaces and a 3/4" rear brake caliper mount. Some brake caliper mounts should have an adapter or internal bushing that will allow them to be used with either 1" or 3/4" axles.
