TO STIFFEN THE RIDE TURN THE SPANNER WRENCH COUNTER CLOCK WISE. NOTE...SOME TIMES THE CANISTER TURNS WITH THE ADJUSTER PLATE AND SOME TIMES IT DON'T. ASSUMING YOU HAVE LOOSENED THE JAM NUT, IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE CANNISTER TURNS OR NOT AS LONG AS THE ADJUSTER PLATE TURNS ON THE STUD. IF THE WHOLE SHOCK TURNS, WHICH I HAVE NEVER SEEN, THEN PUT AN ADJUSTIBLE WRENCH ON THE "FLATS" OF THE STUD AND HOLD. BE SURE TO TURN EACH SHOCK AN EVEN NUMBER OF TURNS BY COUNTING THREADS. GOOD LUCK!!
