Default Selling the Rock

I am going to be putting my 2008 Rocker up for sale so I can build a bike, what do you think about the price for the bike. I am thinking about asking 16,000 for the bike with 4000 miles and stage 1 upgrade with the power commander 5. i did keep all original part. does this seem like a good deal?

Not the C model? May do 13 grand if you get the right guy. Will hafta do a tad less if you wanna move it quick unless unlike the rest of the country the market is sooper strong in good ol' Virginny?.

Look at the completed listings from E-Bay I posted. That is hands down the very best way to value a bike in this bad market unless you have a rich friend who is just dying to pay you top dollar retail moolah for your bike Vs' simply Intra-Nhet shopping, dropping $500 on shipping and buiying one from lord knows where.

Put it on on your local cragslisteses....If that dont work put it on E-Bay and expect 12-12.5K if you actually want it gone.

The good old days of buying Harleys and not losing money a year later if you wanna make a change?

Are over.

If you buy a new Harley today and wanna unload it next year for a few grand less than you paid? Good luck. They are becomming more and more like metrics. 18 grand today? 12 grand tomorrow.

Anyone who isnt filthy rich and likes to buy bikes every year or two? Buy used. Buy cheap. Mod tastefully.

We all know the guy with 32 grand invested in a chromed out 3 year old FX-Blah-Blah with loud pipes wanting 22 grand....

Unless you plan on riding it for a long time...Avoid being that guy!!

Excellent summary of todays HD market Chaz. I watch bikes endlessly on Ebay & Craigslist and see what actually sells Vs. dreamers. Those sites are a true indication of your bikes market value. 12-13k for a standard FXCW would be tops in this market IMO.

Thank you Chaz!!! Finally someone else who feels like I do. Flood the market, that's what happens. Whenever I browse through Craigslist I laugh at some of the numbers these people are trying to get. The best is a guy trying to get the same number he paid new but the bike now has 30,000 miles on it. Bad economy or not, it's not the 90's anymore. No waiting list bull and all the horse crap that went with that time. Thank God if you are used only buyer like myself.

New Harley? Isnt even a thought for me....I dont like having that much money tied up in the thing.

Every single piece and part I buy for my bike is researched, negotiated, haggled, swapped, worked etc..etc.. Every single part I replace gets sold here on HDF or my own craigslist.

I might see one I like more or just get tired of mine. I have less spent on my total bike cost, mods, stage 3 motor everything combined than some of the Yahoo's on Craigslist are saying they spent on chrome doo-daddery?

This is the classic: 2006 Road King. 33,000 invested chrome everything my loss is your gain, never seen rain (Or sun!) divorce forces sale, hurt back cant ride anymore,No time to ride, need room for new project, *** hurts after long ride, bug hit me in the face, got drunk lost license, wife cant get comfy, gay lover cant get comfy, want to buy street glide (Seems everyone wants a street glide nowadays?) Yada..Yada..Yada... 24K OBO.

That guy with the magical 33 grand invested in an 18,000 road kind has spent 1r grand on chrome gadgetry and set of pipes and a stage 1 upgrade? Thats more on the mods alone than my entire bike and all my upgrades?

Say it aint so Joe!!!

Are folks handing money to the dealers to bolt on shiny doo-dads at $100 an hour?
