1st i have 1994 flstc 80c.i. (of course). the rear cylinder will not fire if plug wire is plugged into coil. engine runs fine if you hold plug wire about 1/4" from coil, and let spark jump to the wire. this is not a constant problem, sees to happen very sporaticly. already have new plug wires (8.5mm double insulated), new plugs. HELP!!
When I was putting my bike togethrt I replace the ignition coil for similar problem. Was not expensive, just the regular stock piece and I was good to go onto the next issue.
Pat just what to say thank You!!
Back to business, New Coil as of 6/9/06, did not fix problem.
Now for more information, I ran the bike on a 60 mile trip before I realized that the regulator/rectifier had gone out.
Could this have ruined the spark plug, and cause this problem?
New Splug wires, New Voltage regulator/rectifier, New Coil, what do any of you suggest next. I know not much left on the list.
AGAIN HELP AND MANY THANKS TO ANYONE WHO REPLIES.

Are you running a single fire ingition or dual fire system? If you have a single fire system then you can switch the coil sides, What I'm trying to say is make the side of the coil that was running the rear cylinder run the front cylinder and see if the problem moves to the front cylinder. If the problem moves to the front cylinder I would say you have a bad coil, wiring to coil, or ignition system. If it stays on the rear cylinder then it maybe plug wires, or a bad sparkplug. You may want to first switch sparkplugs in the cylinders and see if you have a bad sparkplugs, the plug could be cracked or not grounding in the head properly. hope this helps.
Thanks Stkman.
Tried new spark plugs today, seems to have solved problem. Noticed that the plugs have alot of black coloration. Guess I'll checking the carb. next.
Thanks again toa ALL.
I'll keep everyone updated.
