does anyone know where you can get a speedometer recalibrated to the correct milage without going to go to harley i have changed speedometer twice stock and thundermax harley wont recalibrate my new speedometer/tack. i know how many total miles i have but i have a thundermax fuel controller and it does not record milage any help paul
thundermax has the setting to calibrate the speed but the mileage has to be done by dealer. if they refuse then another dealer. i know there are some where you can mail your speedometer to and they will do it for a fee http://www.speedometersolutions.com/...ter_repair.htm
If your bike has a three wire speedometer, this company offers a unit that goes in between the speedometer and sending unit and allows you to enter your own correction factor. The product is called Speedohealer. You can enter a percent plus or negative correction while sitting in your garage.
I have no experience with this unit in an HD but in a previous life I had two Goldwings and this product worked great to improve the accuracy of those speedometers. Both were about 6% fast (read higher than actual).
The only down side is that it changes both speedometer and odometer the same percentages, so if they are off a different amount, you have to decide which one to use to set accurately.
You also have to know how much your speed is off by comparing it to some type of standard. I compared mine to the speed shown on a GPS. probably not as accurate as radar or some other reference, but still allowed me to get the accuracy better than it was from the factory.
I'm thinking I've succeeded in my search for an answer to: I've purchased a new digital speedometer for my '05 Ultra Classic and the mileage needs to be set to mimic the current miles, especially for warranty purposes... It does sound like I'm going to have to send it in but will ask Harley first. Not sure they would know though... sheeeeeeeeesh Hope I'm able to help someone in the future... Thanks, Lucky
Should I go to my local Harley dealer and have them send it off to headquarters, or how do I contact HQ myself? I had to replace one on my 99, and it is about 12,000 miles off, lol. Glad to have it working again, it was a PITA to fix.
