im sure in my manual it says if you have the key fob in range, and turn the switch to ignition. you can then remove battery without setting of the alarm
If I remember correctly, the alarm/siren has a small battery enclosed in it, and thats why the siren went off. It thought someone was tampering with it.
I followed the steps in the manual as stated by jf above, and then removed the Maxi fuse. With the fob nearby, the alarm "turns off", and then you can disconnect the battery, or pull the fuse.
Man, this brought up some bad memories for my neighbors . The correct answer is turn the ignition on to disarm the alarm system then disconnect the negative battery terminal. The bad memories come from me going out to work on my bike without my keys early (very early) on a Saturday morning and my girlfriend locking me out of the house not knowing I was outside.
