Okay I recently sold off my streetbob and am looking to buy a new boke.My wife and I would like something a little larger so we can be comfortable on rides we loved the bob but wasnt all that comfortable on rides.I have been looking at softails mainly heritages and fatboys.I really dont care for the feel of the fatboy but not sure if I really care for all of the nostalgia of the heritage but it feels good when sitting on it Im comfortable on it.I guess what Im asking is has anyone come from a dyna to a fatboy or heritage and what is your experinces with the change likes or dislikes thanx in advance.
The Fat Boy can be real comfortable on the long trips if set up right but if you don't like the "feel" of the bike, one of the other softails may be right for you. Nice thing about the Softail line, you can make them into just about anything you want regardless of the specific model you end up with.
Longest ride on my bike was 1000 in 24 hours (1-up). Comfortable enough to feel like I was falling asleep towards the very end. No pain, just worn out from a long day. 2-up, maybe a couple hundred mile trip and passenger had no complaints with the Mustang seat.
Remember, what ever you choose, if you don't like something about it after a few miles... change it. It amazes me how many people trade off comfort for looks, especially with their seat, but that is what these bikes are all about. Choice.
How much 2 up riding are you going to be doing. If frequently I would certainly consider the heritage for the bags and winshield. If you mostly ride solo get the fatboy and for the grand difference in price tag spend it to make the bike fit you. So many seat and bar combos for softails your head will spin.
Thanx guys.I mostly ride back and forth to work when it isnt raining. On weekends if the little woman is up to it we ussually go on a club run or just with a few friends.A body of mine came over today with a fatboy he just bought used had a better seat and some drag bars rode it around a little it felt pretty good so i think i may get fatboy and change the bars and seat.Thanx again
