I wanted a fender that snugged up to the tire better than the stock one, and I didn't think the stock one would work with the larger wheel/tire. Regardless, I thought it would look silly even if it did work. In hindsight, I do kinda wish I'd gone with a 19" wheel/tire in order to get the bike lower without sacrificing suspension travel. Who knows, I've got a spare rear wheel, I might just sell the set and pony up for a new fender.
Then again, I like the look of the 21 up there, so who knows......
Russell, you are right about that meatier tire looking great on your bike. If I were to go with a 19" tall wheel/tire on my bike, would I need any other modifications other than a new fender?

I think this winter I may change the entire front over to a Fatboy just to get the look I want.
Do you have any photos posted anywhere of your front end so I can see how the 120 looks under a stock Nightrain fender? Have you ever noticed any touching of the tire to the fender on really bumpy conditions?

Here is the Metz 120/70/21 on my Nightrain with the stock fender.
thought about changing mine last year and went straigh to a 16". had to have some new spacers fitted, the front caliper moved slightly and a new fender made up (stock from a sporster, cut lengthways and a section added). Rides much better. I run Avon Venom's front and rear.

That looks very nice, and I really like your paint too! Thanks for posting the picture.
Russell, I am going to go with chrome wheels since I have a Standard. I'm also leaning towards getting away from the spoke wheel in the front. I've always liked the look of them, but don't like the hassle when cleaning them.
