Default New bar mount, need some knowledge

I'm rebuilding after a wreck. I'm putting on 17 inch bars. Stock wiring is 48 inches.(I believe). How much wire extension should I order, if any, for the internal wiring. Going on 05 Fatboy. Thanks for the help.

Are you getting entirely new switches and wires? HD has a switch control kit (PN70239-07) that comes with 60" wires. I'm guessing that would probably do it. If you buy it from one of the places that gives 20% off, it's a fairly decent price for that whole setup. There is some difference between wiring internally as well. My experience is that wiring internally requires slightly longer wires than if you wire externally.

I'm planning on changing handlebars out on my Fatboy but am doing it in stages. Got a good deal on internal wired bars and a 4" riser. In the process of looking for a deal on switches and housings (P/N 70239-07). Local dealer stated they would do the job for $75.00 @ hr and would be 3 - 4 hrs plus parts (new wire and assume switches), that aint happening! How much of a hassle is it to pull the tank off the bike and get to the connector housing on the main harness?
