I've had some grinding noise with mine but it's intermittent. It usually happens when the engine is hot and it happens 1 out of 4 times I start it. Well, my bike is in the shop and the dealer is going to change the starter clutch (all under warranty). They're not convinced that it's the problem because they could NOT hear it. Of course, it never happens when they're listening!
I'll post more after I get to ride it a few times.

Well, I'm happy to report that in the past 1000 kms (~625 miles), I have not had the grinding noise happen once. I'm afraid to say the problem is fixed (in case I jinx it!) but it sure looks like it.
I love my bike again. It starts so quickly, like it should and the sound is beautiful.
