Morning. Signed my husband up for this - I'm sure he'll be a regular visitor. I let him buy an '05 FatBoy, which he loves. Works long hours and riding time is sparse. I bought a set of rear floorboards, more for myself than him. I want to surprise him with these being on the bike. Any help with what tools I need, how to remove the old pegs? I bought the plain ones and looking at them, they're pretty ugly. Should've got the chrome. Thanks in advance.
You'll just need some basic tools. Pretty simple set-up. Did you change the exhaust? I installed a set on my 05 Fatboy and used the Heritage mounting brackets as the V & H pipes went below the peg mount. You mentioned that the boards were ugly? Did you buy a set of chrome covers? If not, pick out a set and of your choice. Like Lovetoride said, you'll need to drill a couple of holes but they give you self tapping screws, so it's an easy install. Got them for my sweety as her feet would fall asleep with the standard pegs. She loves 'em.
Just follow the directions and you should be good to go.
Uh-oh, I sees trubble in this! You let him buy a bike? And you signed him up for da boards? Jeez, lady, don't let his buds find out about this or the poor guy will have to trade the HD in on one of them Honda scooter things! (With your permission, of course!)
The above was delivered with tongue firmly in cheek, and does not necessarily reflect the views of the management, or even me. (I have my wife's (aka THE MAMA) permission to say this. Right, dear?

They make a passenger floorboard installation kit for the Fatboy that requires no drilling. It's about $150 for the kit and it even works with the stock shotgun pipes. I have the screaming eagle slip-ons on my 04 model and have been thinking about installing passenger floorboards as well. Everybody that I've ridden so far has gotten the boots/shoes up against the top pipe and it doesn't do their boots or my pipes any good!
