Mine 1991 does the same thing on the freeway only.. All else is good-
So hand signals is a must for the freeway - I would love get get rid of the automatic shut off system.. Nice Bike
Well, I did my own "servicing" on it and it didn't help. Next step is to buy a new one... but gotta go with the after-market to save money. Anyone have bad experiences with them? Anything I should know?
Since you put new turn signals on,I would recheck the connections and voltage.Sounds like,(1.) a loose wire now( 2.).That year bike uses relays and not fuses.I woild also suspect a relay. They are cheap enough to replace all 3-4.# under dash and one by rear fender/.engine side.Since you said problem reared its ugly head again after ignition replacement,I would do a relay check.
And....the blinkers are supposed to shut off ,at least on my '92.Depends on how far you have traveled after you have activated them.I hold mine down until just before I turn to insure they will stay on long enough.
I was actually going to ask about the possibility the auto trigger deactivating them due to vibration or bumps. I've tried holding the button down until the turn but it still deactivates (turns off).
One bummer thing with this new switch, though, is I no longer have an ignition light on when I turn off the bike. I used to have a green(?) light stay on until I turned off the ignition. I'm sure I got the wiring right but perhaps the distributor would have something to say about this?
Check the wiring to the new switch ..Make sure you got the right switch too.You should have all light working.Blinkers still shutting off.....now Im baffled .I still am leaning toward a relay. When you turn the ignition off and on again,it resets the relay. To your post today @ 1:39 pm is why I say relays .What year is your scoot again.? a '94
'94,duh. check the plug at the modulator also.Could be loose.Gas tanks gotta come off for this one.I spent 2 months battling what appeared to be a bad modulator Warranty paid around 1500.00 for various parts ,labor and it turned out to be a loose tail light bulb housing which I found while it was on the lift at the dealer.Something so simple .Id check the connections at the bulb housings also.It is probably going to be something simple.Good luck.Im still here.
I hold mine down until I turn.. 1991 FLSTC here.
They are not dependable and I use a lot of hand signals..
I hate the auto off signals... make them simple on or off.....
hey hossman.Mines a '92...any particular problem areas that you would like to share.?.so far ,mine has been solid except for little stuff. No bags,S&S E carb .Dragpipe duals with crossover, baffled.
