Since I got the bike 8 years ago, the blinkers have always been really sensitive to bumps; they turn off with the slightest bump or turn. So you can guess how unsafe it is during lane changes/turns since I'm looking down at the display to make sure they're still activated. I've basically just relied on visual and arm signals. I figured this is a great place to get it resolved! So any suggestions would be deeply appreciated. Thanks in advance. [sm=smiley20.gif]
Don't know what to tell you about the blinkers , SORRY ! That is by far the nicest Heritage I've ever seen and one of 2 or 3 of the nicest Harleys , period . Should be a contender for BOTM , in my book already the WINNER !!!
well to me it sounds like an electrical problem. when you hit bumps its jarring a loose connection or switch somewhere and activating the signals. try letting the bike sit and play with the signal switches and wire connections, maybe you can find the problem that way.
good luck. either that or take to thr dealer and get yopu check book ready.
Reino: [sm=confused06.gif] you may have something there...
Actually there are signals are on the back now, bullet style. When I took the pic I didn't have em on yet.
05 Deluxe: Tried that but couldn't recreate the problem except on the road. But maybe I need to try it more along with dert's thought.
dert: Yea, stock speedo. Interesting thought. I'll look into that.
DanDeuce: oh, thanks man! I'm new here so not sure how the BOTM works but appreciate the bump! I have yet seen a HD I haven't liked... stock, custom, classic, well... hmmm, ok, I don't like wrecked!
I played around under the speedo panel, but the only way to reproduce the problem was to simply flick (or tap) the ignition switch. POOF! blinkers go off. So assume its the ignition then.
Well, HD dealer has the switches for $75!! OUCH! The platelet and roller (which might be the problem) are about $20. I'm gonna try doing some servicing on them myself. Does anyone have any experience with this? I did a google and found one site that has some info but not too many details.
