I was thinking what the heck. i need to spend some of my dealer dollars i earned.
I bought 10mm Phat Spark Plug Wires. WOW, increased mpg and smoother warmup and better throttle response. no other changes made. i saw on a thread unrelated that someone else had the same results. my dealer could not find in the catalog for my 07 the wires in black but they are on Harley's web site. gave him the number and they had them in stock. all i can think is they must have used the lowest bidder for the stock wires. part number 31907-08 are black
you could not tell if you got a SE because it has the better wires already. i heard from others who changed only the wires and it made a feel-able difference.
i had the stock plugs and went to SE and found no difference other than they dont wear.
the SE have been on for about 6 months. i changed only the wires and got the improvement. i tried iridium ngk a week later and saw no improvement.
I put on a set of blue ACCEL custom fit 8mm wires, around $26.00 at J&P. Great looking and fitting wires. Didn't notice anything in the way of a performance change but then, wasn't expecting much (swap was mainly for looks).
On the topic -- best sub-$20 mod for me so far was the home-made 1 1/2" tank lift. About $4.00 in hardware from Home Depot
