Default stupid ape hanger question

I just put 17 inch ape hangers on my cross bones and they move around. So as ive read on here I bought some emory cloth, but do you put the abrasive side on the bars or on the risers? I tryed folding the cloth so it was abrasive on both sides but it was to thick and my riser bolts where to short to tread. please excuse the stupid question but i need some input.

thanks

u could try the old cut pieces of aluminum can trick as well
also could dimple the bars with a punch where the risers tighten it up
someone round here actually through bolted the bars that worked too
hope this helps
good luck

By any chance are they fat or "chubby" bars? If they are, I will elaborate on a problem I had like yours that was caused by them and the risers in combination and how I corrected it.

Try using a chisel to knock a few "bumps" in the top of the bars under the riser cover. Reinstall cover and youa re good. Be sure not to Go all the way through the bar as bar integrity is important. Just a few slight taps.

Default bones bars

hey man i have 16" on my bones, i tried dimpling, soda can loctite, and a few other things. what ended up working was putting helicoils in my risers and center punching the bars and risers to create burs, also with the helicoils i can crank the **** out of them. i ended up stripping the stock risers trying to tighten to much. another trick i did was grab some stainless washers and put stacked two of them on top of the top rubber piece this allowed me to compress the rubber in the risers more taking some of that movement out. i just rode it 2100 in three days and no problems with this combo.
