I am pretty sure I know the answer but just wanted to run this by the gang.
2006 FLSTN 3500 miles $11500 with bike lift
2007 FLSTN 10,500 miles $12900
1st of all the lift don't mean Chit.. so now its between the 88vs the 96
I've got a 96 and before the cams I rode besides a couple 88, I am a big guy but the 88 stayed with me from 0-70 with both of us stg1. So the 96 are not much if any faster.. now I put the cams in and it a whole new game... 6th gear was useless before now it great with the cam..so would i go 07,??? Yes cause its goanna cost U more than 1/2 that just to change the tensioners. and still its a 88..
1st gear though cut as 5th it doesn't sound noisey. 5th gear not so bad in the Softy's as the Touring group.echo off the batwingith
Hot yes mine ran hot 235-245*(when new) till stg1, syn oil, and cams helped the moma a whole bunch...now my baby run 205-210 degress on the road and 210-215 usually in town, Highest I seen is 220* since cams. stalled in traffic...
I read when I 1st got mine back in 07 (96in) lots of heat complaints ETC, ETC, then I read a lot of old post that was dated 1999/2000 and back then the new TC's 88's was talked about in the same way about being to hot compared to the EVo.
Court sill out on the 96's, but it seems so far that HD done pretty good..
Now we don't hear much about the heat issues like there was at first on the 96's..
