I'm going with Elite 3 on the front of my Train soon. Heard lots of good things about them like the dual compound for stickiness on the sides and a harder compound in the middle. Can't really complain about the stock tire though; it's got almost 12k on it. Not bad for a skinny little tire.

Since you rode rockets too, you know the drill on tires. Stickier equals less mileage but better grip. Metzler and Avon equal stickier and softer. Dunlops are harder and less sticky.

Chaps, as i rode bikes for a living ( Police ) the tyre pressures are checked everytime I ride it, its drilled into us during trainning. The reason the tyre is worn is down is roundabouts that make the right hand side of the tyre wear faster. I expect if the right was the same as the left I would have another 1500 - 2000 miles left.I have been told dual compound tyres dont wear very well in the UK and pukka up on the right hand side leaving a pronounced harder bit in the middle.
Im looking for a bit of a wider tyre than standard

Thumbs up

I am on my 5th set of tires on my 2008 Train with 43500 miles on it. I am lucky to get 8500 out of my rear before the threads are showing and 10000 on the front. I do not run Dumflops since the original set wore out. I been running Shinko 200/50/17 on rear and MH90 on front. Shinko used to be Yokohama witch supplied many OEM with tires for many years. They are by far stickyer and wet riding is much improved. A big plus is the price, I can buy 2 sets cheaper than 1 set of OEM Dumflops, and the 200/50/17 is a little shorter and changes the overall gearing just enough to make 6th gear much more usuable and all the other gears are much more responsive. That's good info Decon. I'm going to a car tire on the rear of my 07 Train when this one wears out. A friend on another forum is running one on his 08 and really likes it. Depending on the tire; you could get 50k out of a rear tire. Check out the thread below for some good info too.
