I am ordering a new windshield next week and wondering if we ought to have the dealer install it or can we do it ourselves? Wondering how hard (or easy!) it would be. Hubby has no problem with servicing and installing parts, any comments would be appreciated.
Should be pretty simple..... Get the docking kit and replace a few screws on the headlight shroud i would imagine!!!!!! I suggest going on Ebay and getting one. I bet you want find one any cheaper!
I had a tech install mine because of the light relocation. I wasn't to comfortable with messing with the wiring. I also wanted to make sure if there were any issues it was the dealers problem not mine. Sometimes the HD directions that come with parts are vague. Good Luck.
Light relocation may not be required on your model since the signal lamps are near the brake/clutch levers. You may want to decide on a shorter or taller unit depending if you want to look over or through the windshield. Looks like the H-D number 58243-95 standard height or 58278-95 low profile would be a simple bolt-on installation on your FLST without having to relocate the signal lamps (2006 catalog page 240).
