Default Thundermax or PCV with Autotune

Let me tell you I'm a total neophyte when it comes to this stuff. I'm interested in an autotune system but for the cost of these things I want to make the best choice.

I know FuelMoto sells both, but which is better? Please factor in the price difference if there even is one.

I really can't tell a whole lot about Thundermax but the PCV with Autotune seems to be pretty darned versatile with it's cylinder to cylinder tune and even gear to gear tuning. That seems pretty darned powerful to me.

I guess I could say I'm leaning towards PCV vs Thundermax mainly because of the great reviews of so many here using Dynojet products and their better explanation of what their products are all about and alleged great customer service.

Any and all feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Note: I posted this same message on the Chat forum but I'm trying to get the largest audience I can because I'm serious about the subject matter.

For the two in question (I have neither) I'd pick the T-max. It's made by Zippers. That's enough for me. For more info go to zippers web site.

i love the thundermax. i got mine used for 450 from the forum. the thundermax is a total replacement for the harley ecm. there is a lot of info on youtube that tells how it works and the response from support has been great. they even sent me a chart to change my speedometer calibration when i changed my rear tire to make it right on the money.

It all depends on your bike setup...what ci, what breather, exhaust and so forth...then it depends on your driving style. from there we can then give a little better advice. If you are not changing the exhaust and breather then don't bother with either.
if you are not doing much then go for thundermax...the more you change the more I would suggest PCV...and go for a proper dyno tune by a specialist instead of the autotune

Thundermax over pcv. The pcv is a piggy back unit whereas the thundermax is a direct replacement for the stock ecm. I don't know about you but I don't have room for anything under my seat so that rules out the pcv right off the bat. A used thundermax with autotune can be gotten for 400-500 bucks easily. And on top of that, you won't need to get a dyno tune unless you really want to. Also, like the pcv, the thundermax does map each cylinder independently. It maps them every 256(?) rpm's and at specific throttle positions. So that's kind of like adjusting for every gear. Also the maps are user customizable, so you can edit a map to give you better fuel economy in the cruising rpm's or for better performance. The thundermax also has many other features that can be customized. If I had to do it again, I would have gotten the thundermax when I bought the bike instead of waiting a year. Also there is a really good thread on the thundermax on the other site. It goes on for over a 100 pages.http://www.*****************/forums/ef...auto-tune.html. Good luck with what ever you decide to go with.
